    Slate Roofing Overview

As a roofing material, slate has come a long way over the years. Elegant and strong, this stone roofing material continues to be a popular choice in many homes across the world. However, many people might not be familiar with its capabilities and values. Slate shingles are known for their strength and lifeline. Of course, you would love to have these aesthetically appealing and prized materials in your home.

It’s logical to consult a professional roofing contractor before choosing the roofing material, considering the investment.

We would love to do more slate roofing jobs. We have lots of experience with this type of roof and we would love to show you how effective and cost-efficient we can be.

    Different Types Of Slate Roofs

Here are the different types of slate roofs that we can install at your home.

    Uniform Slate Roofs

Uniform or standard roofs made from slate measure ¼ inches by 3/8 inches. The butts are of square cut, and these roofs are placed in horizontal courses that are spaced uniformly. The vertical joints are alternatively aligned in these roofs.

    Patterned Slate Roofs

In this type of slate roof, different colors form a specific course or design. Besides, they carry banding or individual accents. Many homeowners prefer incorporating patterned slate shingles within the uniform ones. You can choose from different accents, such as geometric patterns, floral designs, and even names and words.

    Blended Slate Roofs

If you have a fascination for different colors, it’s logical to choose blended slate roofs. In the process, you would enjoy a visually appealing multi-colored roof. In these cases, the installers carry out random width installations. The number of colors may range up to four, or even more.

    Slate Roofs With Random Width

These roofs are similar to standard slate installation. However, the installers strategically incorporate slates of a similar thickness and length in different widths. The shingles are positioned in such a way that a joint offset is maintained, but it does not involve a joint alignment.

    Graduated Thickness/Length Slate Roofs

In this design, the installers incorporate slates with three or more successive widths into roofs with graduated length. They install the thickest and largest shingles at the eaves. Then comes the shingles with diminishing thicknesses and lengths. The thinnest and smallest pieces find their places at the top.
